Our Story
World Scholars Exchange Inc. was born from a simple belief: when young people cross borders, communities open hearts. We connect motivated international high school students with caring U.S. host families and partner schools, creating everyday moments—dinner-table conversations, school projects, neighborhood events—that grow into lifelong understanding.
We run on a “360° Support Triangle”: a dedicated local coordinator, a trained host family, and a partner school working together—with 24/7 on-call help and monthly wellness check-ins—so every placement feels safe, welcoming, and set up to thrive. Before students arrive, we prepare hosts and students with clear guidelines and orientation. During the year, we stay close: problem-solving early, celebrating wins often, and keeping everyone aligned on learning, wellbeing, and growth.
Access matters. We offer needs-based scholarships and sliding-scale fees so cost never becomes the gatekeeper. Safety matters, too. That’s why our hosts complete multi-layer screening and home visits, and why we practice transparent communication with families, schools, and community partners. We also measure what matters—cultural learning, school engagement, language progress—because impact should be visible, not just hoped for.
What makes WSE different is our community-powered approach. We partner with schools and local organizations, encourage service-learning, and invite host families to share their own traditions while learning new ones. Every exchange is personal, but the result is shared: students gain confidence and leadership; families gain a global perspective; schools gain bridges to the wider world.
